This is an invitation to a workshop where you can make a very valuable tea scoop using the limited and precious sooted bamboo.

This will be the second tea scoop carving event in Kochi with the extremely popular Professor Moriwaki Izumi, in two years.

Why not try making a tea scoop under careful guidance while listening to fascinating stories about tea scoops?

As for the material, Professor Moriwaki, an architect, is involved in old architecture, and he can provide us with sooted bamboo that is over 150 years old.

This time, if you wish, you can also make a tube out of sooted bamboo. The tube lid is also made of rare Jindai cedar.

Please also inscribe your name on the tea scoop you make.

Tea scoops have been carved by hosts, including Sen no Rikyu, and have played an important role in entertaining once-in-a-lifetime guests.

We hope you will spend this important day carving your own tea scoop, connecting with your ancestors and reflecting on yourself.
