Tea Ceremony Experience (Ruth Faulkner Library, City of Belmont, Western Australia)
On Sunday, September 1, 2024, we were requested again by the City of Belmont to conduct four 30-minute demonstrations of Traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony (limited to 10 people each time) at the Ruth Faulkner Library.
The City of Belmont has a sister city relationship with Adachi Ward, Tokyo, and this event was planned as a Japanese-related event for its citizens.
We briefly introduced the history or equipment of the tea ceremony and gave a demonstration of hira-demae.
Then, after participants ate sweets, we handed out tea bowls with hot water and matcha (powdered green tea) for them to whisk and drink by themselves.
Before the end of the demonstration, a Q&A session was held to answer some questions and receive feedback.
